If this blog appears a bit empty, it's because I've relocated it to www.shipofstate.org. As a free service, blogger is absolutely phenomenal, and I still host my personal blog here, and will for a long time to come. I wanted to expand this blog to more of a community project, and I needed something a little more powerful to do that, so I've switched to using Wordpress.org software (not to be confused with Wordpress.com).
Please come and visit us at the new site!

About

Where do I stand, and why talk about politics, economics, and philosophy?
I believe in a thing called social responsibility. I believe that those who have been cultivated in a society have a duty to try to improve it. I believe it is morally imperative for the great minds of a society to question the status quo and seek ways to make life better for all citizens.
Do I view myself as one of those great minds? Certainly not. If there is one thing I am intelligent enough to understand, it is just how much knowledge that I do not possess. I do, however, see problems with our society, and I am not content to merely sit back and take note.
Why those three topics? They are all intertwined; to borrow from Plato, the perfect society can never exist until philosophers are politicians--or politicians are philosophers. Philosophy is the tool by which a great society can be crafted, and economics is the backbone on which it can be built.
So here shall lie a record of my thoughts on these subjects. I invite--in fact I kindly ask--any visitors to this blog to comment on any or all posts. It is only through dialogue that we can learn from each other, and it is only through learning that we can hope to become great minds capable of improving our world.
Thanks for visiting!
